Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute of Nuclear Physics of Kazakhstan and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of Tajikistan
August 19, 2024, in the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan hosted a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Republican State Enterprise "Institute of Nuclear Physics" of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency (CBRN SSA) of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
The memorandum was signed by the General Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayabek Kuanyshbekovich Sakhiev, and the First Deputy-Director of the CBRN SSA of Tajikistan, Matin Akhmedov. This agreement aims to establish long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of nuclear and radiation safety, scientific research, and capacity building in the region.
The signed memorandum outlines several areas of collaboration, including joint scientific research, exchange of information and experience, organization of scientific and practical conferences and seminars, and the implementation of joint projects in the field of nuclear forensics and radiation safety. A key aspect of the agreement is also the preparation and exchange of young specialists through joint master's, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.
Both parties expressed confidence that this cooperation will be an important step in strengthening scientific ties between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan and will contribute to the development of innovative technologies and the enhancement of safety in the region.
The memorandum came into force upon signing and will remain in effect for five years, with the possibility of extension. The parties agreed to review the implementation of the agreement annually and to identify new areas for collaboration.
