10th Scientific Republican Conference “The contribution of women to the development of modern science”
On February 21, 2024, the 10th Scientific Republican Conference “The contribution of women to the development of modern science”, dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was held at the Regional Training Center of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST. The conference was held within the framework of the “Twentieth anniversary of study and development of natural, exact and mathematical sciences in the field of science and education for 2020-2040.”

The conference was organized at the initiative of the Committee of Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan together with the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and with the support of CBRN Safety and Security Agency and WiN Tajikistan.
The conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Doctor of Technical Sciences - Mansuri Dilrabo, Chairman of the Committee of Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan - Faiziddinzoda Bunafsha, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan - Satoriyon Matlubahon, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Khushwakhtzoda Kobiljon Khushwakht, Chairman of Committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagon for Science, Education, Culture and Youth Policy of the Republic of Tajikistan - Sodiki Nasiba, Deputy Chairman of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan - Khairiniso Yusufi.
The Chairman of the Committee of Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Faiziddinzoda Bunafsha, made an opening speech, in which she assessed the role of women in science development, life and work of famous Tajik women scientists, and highly appreciated the achievements of women in the field of scientific researches.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Mansuri Dilrabo emphasized the critical role played by women and girls in the progress of modern Tajik science. She also noted that Tajik women scientists, using advanced methods and technologies of scientific research, constantly strive to improve the level of their knowledge and devote all their energy to increase the authority of Tajik science.

President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Khushvaktzoda Kobilgon Khushvakht noted that in the era of independence, thanks to wise policy of the Leader of Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the status and position of women significantly strengthened due to Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan “On measures to improve the status of women in society”, the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On State Guarantees of Equal Rights of Men and Women and Equal Opportunities for Their Realization”, the National Plan of Measures to Increase the Status and Role of Women, the State Program “Main Directions of State Policy to Ensure Equal Rights and Opportunities of Men and Women”, “Education, selection and placement of management personnel of the Republic of Tajikistan attracting talented women and girls."

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor - Gaibullaeva Zumrat Khabibovna, an active member of WiN Tajikistan also participated in plenary session. In her speech, she spoke in detail about the activities of WiN Tajikistan, which includes such main areas as:
- creating comfortable environment for the active participation of women in science, culture and social activities;
- strengthening women's authority in society;
- assistance to women professionals in professional growth and career development;
- promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience;
- encouraging interest to science, in particular nuclear technology, nuclear and radiation safety and security, radiation protection and etc., especially among women and youth;
- interaction with other scientific, cultural and public organizations;
- strengthening national and spiritual identity;
- media support of women-scientists.
She also spoke about the most significant events of WiN Tajikistan, including the annual International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Role of Women Scientists in the Development of Science, Innovation and Technology”, the annual competition of national dishes “Dastarkhoni Taomhoi Milli”, Essay Competition, as well as a visit of WiN Tajikistan’s members to the production enterprise OJSC “AZOT” and the hydroelectric power station “Sarband”, Levakand, Khatlon region, etc. Gaibullaeva Zumrat emphasized the importance of involving young women to the science, as this helps to reduce the gender gap in this field and promotes equality of opportunity for all scientists. Involving young women to science is an important step for progress and innovation in scientific research, and creating equal opportunities for all scientists contributes to the development of society as a whole.

The conference was held in three sections: a plenary session, a section of social sciences, a section of exact, and natural sciences, where the achievements, successes, scientific research and inventions of Tajik women scientists were presented.
The conference was attended by more than 100 people, representatives of ministries and departments, women scientists and inventors, graduate students and masters, teachers and students of higher and secondary educational institutions of the country.
Undoubtedly, participation in such scientific conferences provides new scientific foundations for young researchers, graduate students and masters, and guides a large number of young women to carry out scientific research.
Following the results of the scientific conference, taking into account the significant and valuable contribution of women scientists in the development of science and presentation of achievements of Tajik science at the international level, a number of women and girls were awarded a certificate of honor from the Committee of Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
