On March 10, 2023, WiN Tajikistan’s members - Khakimova Nodira, Ph.D., senior researcher of CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST, Tagayeva Sabrina - senior laboratory assistant of CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST and biology teacher of Technical Lyceum named after M. Osimi Don Ekaterina conducted a seminar on the topic: “Environmental issues of uranium tailings in Istiklol city” for high school students.

The purpose of seminar was not only to familiarize youth with environmental problems associated with uranium tailings in Istiklol city, possible routes of contamination by radionuclides, and measures taken to minimize these problems, but also to help schoolchildren in choosing a future profession, to interest and attract them to exact sciences, especially girls. 

Khakimova Nodira told students about the main activities of CBRN Safety and Security Agency and about the ongoing research work. 

During the presentation, schoolchildren learned about the history of tailings dumps and the ongoing works for their rehabilitation.
The seminar turned out to be informative and very interesting for young researchers.
