Official hand-over ceremony of vehicles to the Department of Special Purpose Units of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Tajikistan within the framework of the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540.
27 December 2023, the official ceremony of handing over the Toyota Hilux cars equipped with detectors for detection of nuclear and radioactive materials to the Department of Special Purpose Units of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Tajikistan within the framework of implementation of the National Action Plan of the Republic of Tajikistan on UN Security Council Resolution 1540 was held.
Ilkhom Mirsaidzoda, Director of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security, as the National Co-ordinator, handed over vehicles for use by the Department of Special Purpose Units of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Tajikistan on behalf of international donors.
This technical assistance was provided within the Green Border Security Project, which aims to strengthen the law enforcement infrastructure of the Republic of Tajikistan along the border with Afghanistan.
As part of this project, it is planned to transfer special clothing, body armour, equipment for operations in mountainous areas, special protective uniforms for mine clearance, night vision devices, binoculars, monoculars, receiving and transmitting devices (radios), special military vehicles, cars and minibuses with sensitive equipment for detecting the illegal traffic of nuclear and radioactive materials and a number of others.
