The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to ensure full and equal access to participation in science for women and girls, is celebrated around the world on 11 February each year. On 9 February 2023, Kayumova Dilorom Abdulhamidovna (Ph.D.), Vice-President of the National Branch of "Khonumi Yadroi" (WiN Tajikistan), responsible for popularisation of science among youth together with Vice-President Sharofova Mizhgona Umedzhonovna (Ph.D.) organised a round table dedicated to "International Day of Women and Girls in Science". The aim of the round table was to popularise science among women and girls by sharing experiences.
Over the past few years, the global community has made many efforts to encourage and engage women and girls in science.
The full and equal participation of women and girls in science plays a vital role in ensuring the diversity of scientific research, expanding the pool of talented researchers and bringing new perspectives.
Within the scope of cooperation, the participants of the roundtable were representatives of the National Department of "Khonumi Yadroi" of the CBRNSSA Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and "Association of Women Studying Glaciers" of the State Scientific Institution "Glacier Research Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan".
