On 21-23 February 2022, at the Training Center of National Bank of Tajikistan (Guliston town) a training course was conducted on raising the awareness of population on rehabilitation issues of radioactive waste storage facilities in Sughd region. The training course was launched for executive authorities press-secretaries of Sughd region as a part of implementation of National Concept for the Rehabilitation of radioactive waste storage facilities of uranium production.   

The training course allowed participants to acquire knowledge on the main informing features related to rehabilitation issues of radioactive waste storage facilities projects, and provide better understanding for population on radiation safety issues. The training was hosted by CBRN Safety and Security Agency instructors, and was supported by OSCE within the framework of the project: “Stakeholders engagement for uranium legacy remediation in Central Asia. Phaze II”. 

The rehabilitation works for radioactive waste storage facilities at the Taboshar site (Istiklol city, Sughd region) in accordance with the agenda will commence in 2022, hence the press secretariat would actively engage with population and stakeholders to raise awareness on the progress of the project.
