The State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan received special equipment for detection of nuclear and radioactive materials.
On February 18, an official ceremony of equipment transfer to State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan as part of implementation of National Action Plan of the Republic of Tajikistan on UN Security Council Resolution 1540 has been held.
Director of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Safety and Security Agency - Ilhom Mirsaidzoda, as a national coordinator, handed over a special vehicle equipped with sensitive detectors for detection of nuclear and radioactive materials for use by employees of State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan on behalf of the US Department of Energy.
This technical assistance was provided as part of the Green Border Security Project, which aims to strengthen the law enforcement infrastructure of the Republic of Tajikistan along the border with Afghanistan.
A multi-million dollar project that will provide coveralls, body armor, equipment for operations in mountainous areas, a special protective uniform for demining, night vision devices, binoculars, monoculars, transceivers (radio stations), special military vehicles , cars, minibuses in which sensitive equipment is installed to detect illegal traffic of nuclear and radioactive materials, and a number of others.
