National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy experts visit Khujand International Airport
On December 6, 2021, the experts from the National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy (DOE/NNSA), the Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD), employees of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety & Security Agency (CBRN SSA), representatives of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan visited Khujand International Airport
The purpose of the visit was to agree on a plan to equip radiation portal monitors (RPM), at all checkpoints of Khujand International Airport, to ensure the control and prevention of illicit trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials.
During the visit, the experts were discussing the design plan for deployment of the radiation portal monitors (RPM) in the arrival and departure hall, including the cargo terminal, as well as the discussion of future plans to determine the location of the RPM in the CIP, VIP halls and other key facilities of the Khujand airport.
