On December 6, 2021, the experts from the US Department of Energy visited the “Sarazm-Dzhartepa” checkpoint in Panjakent regarding further equipment with radiation portal monitors (RPM). 

During the visit, the experts from the National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy (DOE/NNSA), the Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD), employees of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety & Security Agency (CBRN SSA), representatives of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the head and officers of the “Sarazm-Dzhartepa” checkpoint were attended. 

During the meeting, issues on the layout and deployment of the RPM for vehicles and pedestrians in the “Sarazm-Jartepa” checkpoint were considered. Besides, experts discussed the location of the Centralized Alarm Warning System (CAS), aimed at effective management of alarms during the detection, response and prevention of illegal trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials at the Sarazm checkpoint in Panjakent.
