OFFICIAL OPENING OF LABORATORY FOR PROVISION OF TECHNICAL SERVICES AT NRSA
On January 14, 2011, the official opening and commissioning of the Technical Services Laboratory of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency took place.
President of National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan (NAST) - Mamadsho Ilolov, US Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan - Ken Gross, Government Representative - Kurbonbekov Chumabek, directors and employees of several institutes of NAST, and representatives of the US Embassy in Tajikistan participated in the opening ceremony.
After the opening of the laboratory building, the technical staff of the laboratory trained in a number of European countries through the IAEA familiarized participants with the services that the laboratory would provide. The range of services of this laboratory includes individual dosimetric control, workplace dosimetry, quality control of X-ray diagnostic devices, -alpha, -beta, -gamma spectrometry, search for lost sources, radiation monitoring (including radon), calibration of measuring instruments, and a number of others.
The reconstruction and equipment project of this laboratory amounted to 570 thousand US dollars, which financed by the US Embassy in Tajikistan. Moreover, IAEA and ISTC projects valued at over more than 500 thousand US dollars were implemented in the laboratory.
