Regional workshop on the establishment of National Education and Training Strategy in radiation, transport and waste safety
The workshop aimed at:
Providing member States with an overview of the IAEA methodology for developing National Education and Training Strategy in radiation, transport and waste safety aimed at strengthening the education and training infrastructure and developing competence in radiation safety (TSA6);
Raising awareness of relevant IAEA safety standards and guidance materials that describe requirements for radiation safety education and training and provide information in support of the development of national strategies;
Obtaining from the Member States the preliminary information required for the development of national strategies, including a regulatory framework for education and training of specialists, human resources management and the development of a radiation safety-training base.
Representatives of the following countries participated in the workshop: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Ukraine. Each country made a presentation regarding the National Education and Training Strategy in radiation, transport and waste safety.
Moreover, IAEA experts Mr Andrey Timoshchenko и Mr Julius Ziliukas read several lectures on the current subject and provided with examples of IAEA strategies and recommendations. At the end of the seminar, after discussion among IAEA participants and lecturers, a report was prepared for IAEA and participating countries regarding preparing the strategy.
